Energy Conversion
Last week, in the thermofluid class, Sir Roshaizul teaches us about energy conversion. In this topic i learn that energy conversion is the process of converting one type of energy into another form. Any change in energy in systems can be performed only by removing or adding energy from it, since energy is a variable that is capable of conservation . For instance, energy from sources like nuclear and fossil fuels can be used conveniently in others forms such as:
- Heating/cooling
- Propulsive/rotational energy
- Electrical energy
Energy conversion is also known as energy transformation.
Energy is available in various forms and these can have countless applications. Energy can be used to deliver services to the public which include:
- Mechanical work (machine operation)
- Refrigeration
- Heating/light/cooling
To get a clearer picture, imagine how a combustion engine transforms potential chemical energy present in oxygen or fuel into thermal energy. This thermal energy is then converted to mechanical form, which can be utilized in the acceleration of vehicles.
Much I've learned but that's a little bit I can explain about energy conversion. It's a precious moment for me because I can study with sir Roshaizul and I'm looking forward to learning more about other thermofluid topics ^ _ ^
